Largest non-profit legal design event in the world is Legal Design Summit – a three-day event with highly interactive, immersive, and inspiring hands-on workshops, brainstorming sessions, and prototyping exercises. The Summit took place in Helsinki on 10-13.9.2025. This year theme ”Where Law Meets Design” included insights how a global community turns ideas into better justice, strategic advantage, and truly human-centered legal services.
Dr. Ade Mabogunje from Stanford University Center for Design Research pointed out how he is planning to start a project to enable the acceleration of radical innovation and capital formation in different cultures. The goal is to have measurable innovation that can pay for itself. It is a continuation of the project Ade has done in Nigeria, India, and Kansas City. The next two countries Ade is currently looking at are Japan and Mexico.
Dr. Pekka Berg pointed out how Innoman has been collaborating with Ade and Stanford since 1996 dealing with radical innovation measurement. Pekka stated that when examining radical innovations, the issues to be measured should take into account the following special features:
- Linking to the company’s strategy is the starting point for everything.
- The nature of the activity is cyclical and uncertain.
- The activities are creative and constantly produce new ideas.
- The importance of cross-functional, both horizontal and vertical, teams and networks is emphasized.
- An understanding of the strategy and expertise of the entire business ecosystem is important.
These ideas are going to be linked with Stanford research and implementation of the companies globally in the future.
